“Ethnic cleansing” is probably the last thing that comes to mind when you see a Swastika scribbled on the wall of your local bar or tattooed on the forehead of the friendly biker who lives next door. But according to scholars at Frankfurt University, the geometric symbol normally associated with peace and divinity actually has a sinister history of hate and genocide. Yikes!

That’s right, the Sanskrit symbol on your lover’s lower back you’ve been cumming on since July stands for more than just prosperity and good luck. It was actually used by some super uncool Germans to oppress and annihilate millions of Jews and other folks they deemed to be inferior to the Aryan race. Embarrassing!

So before you proudly hang that red, white, and black quilt you found in your Opa’s attic, be aware that some unenlightened haters may automatically assume the worst and point out the ONE time the Swastika was associated with the murder of millions of people.

It may feel like, in this day and age, everything is going to offend someone. But in actuality, there are more symbols and words that don’t incite violence and hatred, so maybe just stick with one of those until the whole thing blows over.
