According to a new comprehensive analysis done by Yale University climate researchers, the single most impactful measure individuals can take to protect the planet’s corporations from the consequences of their own environment-destroying practices—is to switch to a vegan diet.

The new research shows that, if every individual simply removed meat and dairy from their diet (regardless of whether they have access to affordable alternatives), it would allow big businesses to continue their reckless practices of fracking, drilling, deforestation, and mass-production of animal products —without any immediate consequences or inconvenient regulations.

“Loss of wild areas to agriculture is the leading cause of the current mass extinction of wildlife,” wrote Dr. Joseph Poore of the University of Oxford, who led the research. “So we are urging every human to also be mindful of your consumption of common plant-based ingredients such as palm oil and cocaine, so that major producers aren’t forced to kill orangutans and harpy eagles for your Nutella.”

Scientists agree that even if humans cut out animal products entirely, it probably won’t stop the impending massive-devastation of the planet for long. So to avoid requiring manufacturers and agricultural giants to take any responsibility at all, it would behoove us all to use a bidet instead of tissue paper, buy a Tesla (which actually saves you money in the long run!), and to use those soggy flaccid paper straws.
